In the simulation or practical use of Morse code, Farnsworth compression (also known as Farnsworth speed) is not a direct term. In standard Morse code transmission, the spacing between characters (word spacing) is usually fixed, and the length of the dots and dashes within the characters is also fixed. However, in Farnsworth speed, the sender maintains the same speed of dots and dashes within characters, but reduces the spacing between characters, thereby increasing the transmission speed without sacrificing clarity. This technique allows for more efficient communication because it reduces unnecessary pauses. However, it also requires higher proficiency on both the sender and receiver's side, as the characters are arranged closer together, potentially increasing the difficulty of decoding.
